Casa R by ORMA Architettura in Sotta, Corsica, France. A compact vertical house fits between rocky outcrops on a steep Corsican site.
Research notes
A compact vertical house fits between rocky outcrops on a steep Corsican site.
Building between the boulders
ORMA placed Casa R at the edge of Sotta, where the ground drops between substantial rock formations. The project uses height to accommodate the house on a limited footprint. Its simple volume is positioned in relation to the rocky spurs rather than spreading across the slope.
A different atmosphere inside
The outer surface establishes a mineral relationship with the terrain, while changes in interior height and timber-framed openings give individual rooms a different character. Compare close views of the facade with the window reveals and internal section. The contrast is about spatial enclosure, not evidence of a complete material specification or a measured environmental result.
What the sources do not establish
- The project accounts do not establish a complete construction specification or independently measured environmental performance.
