Research notes

A rural holiday house uses a patio, a long pool and sheltered outdoor rooms to organize life around the landscape.

A shared setting for several suites

Bak Gordon's Casa Azul is arranged around an enclosed patio in the Alentejo. Three suites and the shared areas participate in a larger composition of open and protected spaces. A long pool accompanies the house, while taller volumes mark the ends of the main living sequence.

Between indoor rooms and open countryside

The project account identifies outdoor social spaces at opposite ends of the house. Compare those sheltered settings with the exposed pool edge and the patio. They offer distinct ways of occupying the rural site; the warm appearance of the surfaces is not a substitute for an exact specification or a measured account of thermal comfort.

What the sources do not establish
  • A verified completion year is not established in the reviewed sources.
  • The project accounts do not establish a complete construction specification or independently measured environmental performance.
