Architecture on screen
Gattaca at Marin County Civic Center
Gattaca changes the meaning of an existing civic building by placing it inside a different institutional story.

A real building, a fictional organisation
Marin’s tourism bureau identifies the Civic Center as Gattaca’s aerospace corporation. The county’s own guide identifies the escalator and spire in its filming history, including the separate THX 1138 connection.

Look at the route as well as the silhouette
Compare the film frames with the real circulation spaces. A location credit establishes a connection to the building; it does not establish that every scene or fictional department occupied a real room.

Visit a working civic complex
Use the county’s current self-guided information and check access before planning. A roof or restricted workplace seen on screen should not be treated as an accessible visitor route.
