Read Quzhou Sports Park through its sunken stadium, roof canopy and planted terrain, distinguishing the stadium from the wider development.

Research notes
MAD’s stadium uses the shape of the ground to mediate between a major sports venue and a public park.
The stadium is the first completed centerpiece described in the 2022 project account, rather than evidence that every part of the sports park was finished then. MAD’s wider scheme distributes sports facilities within an artificial landscape.
The seating bowl sits down into the terrain beneath a light-looking canopy. Paths, planted slopes and distant views soften the boundary between venue and park; compare the approaches with the interior photographs to understand that change of scale.
