Research notes

A repeated screen gives the glazed facade a strong identity while connecting architectural pattern with the management of daylight.

Compare the building's regular exterior grid with the light it admits inside. This is a different architectural use of technology from the visibly fragmented forms of the 1990s examples.

What the sources do not establish
  • Completed in 1987; a cultural institution with a patterned south-facing screen.
  • Photographs document the published source account; later alterations are not a claim about the original completion date.
